Wire jewelry making has become extremely popular nowadays among all the craftsmen around the world. This technique is based on working with wire made of different materials, which can be copper, silver, brass, bronze, etc. The wire is used by craftsmen to create various jewelry and accessories. A piece can be made solely of wire, or it can be a composition made of wire and other materials, such as beads, buttons, feathers, stones, etc.
Copper wire for Wire wrapping a stone pendant.
Today, I am going to use copper wire to make a pendant. You can use any other wire that you have available.
For the pendant, I used natural copper wire with a thickness of 1 mm for the base and 0.4 mm for the weaving.
I like to use natural copper wire. I really like the natural, warm color of the copper. It is possible to change the color tone of copper by patination. After the piece is finished, the copper is patinated (to make it look older), then polished, so that the piece has the so-called effect of antique jewelry or accessories. It will start to play with shadows and light after that. This is the secret of my Easy wire wrap tutorial free.
Stone for weaving with wire.
It is unlikely that anyone would argue with the fact that the jewelry made with this technique is extremely beautiful and original. The additional attraction is given by natural stones woven with wires.
In my wire jewelry making practice, I often use natural stones. And not just any natural stones, but stones of volcanic origin. Such stones are hard and it is difficult to accidentally damage them when working with wire with a metal tool. When polishing the wire, the stone is not damaged either.
In this Easy wire wrap tutorial free, I also made a pendant with a natural stone (black agate). It has the shape of a drop. The natural stone has a hole, which makes it much easier to make a pendant using wire.

We need two pieces of copper wire 1 mm thick and about 30 – 40 cm long. The length of the wire depends on the size of your stone. The size of my stone is 30 by 20 mm. If you wish, you can use any size and any shape of the stone with a hole. Approximately in the middle weave two wires together by any method of weaving.
Use 0.4 mm thick copper wire. It is pretty thin.
Insert one end of the wire into the hole in the stone.
Bend the second wire to the shape of the stone.
You need to make a loop for the cord or chain (necklace). Bend the weaving. You can bend on a round pencil.
Tie (weave) three wires together with the same thin wire.
We don’t need all three wires. Cut and nicely bend one wire on the back side.
Next, continue to weave the two wires. Bend and bring the weaving to the front side.
Weave three wires together.
Cut and bend one of the wires into a ring.
Continue weaving two wires. Then cut and bend one wire like the previous one.
Weave only one wire.
Place the wire behind the loop for the cord or necklace.
Cut the wire so that the end of the wire is inside the loop for the cord or necklace.
The pendant is done.
Patinated and polished copper.
I usually patinate copper in ammonia vapor. I pour the ammonia into a glass jar with a lid. I make a small hole in the center of the lid. And then I hang the piece over the ammonia solution on a thin wire.
After a while, when the copper darkens, I take the pendant out of the jar.
If you do not have ammonia, use special solutions for patinating or blackening copper, which you can buy in online stores. Be sure to read the instructions for use.
Next, I polish the decoration with felt circles. I use polishing pastes. Then I wash the piece under running water with soap. And the final stage is drying.
Natural copper will darken over time. To prevent this, the entire piece can be coated with a special colorless varnish.
Hang the pendant on a cord or copper chain. This is the end of our today’s Easy wire wrap tutorial free.
