Polymer clay pendant step by step tutorial for beginners. DIY polymer clay jewelry.
In this master class, I will tell readers how to make a polymer clay pendant with their own hands at home.
Such a polymer clay pendant is a great way to make any closet more elegant. You can also make the same pendant using any color of polymer clay combined with gold polymer clay. You can also experiment using different colors of powder.

Polymer clay pendant. Materials.
To make a polymer clay pendant, we need baked polymer clay in two colors from any manufacturer. I used black polymer clay and gold “Premo Sculpey” clay. Clay from different manufacturers can be easily baked together. The temperature and baking time of these clays is the same.
Glittery gold powder for needlework can also be used with polymer clay. I use it before baking the clay. After baking, I cover the product with colorless varnish for polymer clay.
To create a polymer clay pendant, we will need some tools.
A rolling pin for rolling out the polymer clay. If available, use a pasta machine.
And where do you roll it? I usually use glossy tile, which you can buy at any hardware store.
A sharp knife or polymer clay blade.
Cutters, molds for cutting.
Polymer Clay Texture Sheets.
An oven for baking the clay.
Use rubber gloves or half finger gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints on the clay.
Master class for beginners.
I hope you have prepared all the materials and tools to make the polymer clay pendant. Before you start, be sure to knead the clay well.
Take some clay and roll it on a tile with a rolling pin. The thickness of the layer should be about 1 mm.
Take a polymer clay texture sheet and place it on top of the polymer clay. Roll it with force using a rolling pin so that the pattern is well printed on the clay.
You should have something like this as a result. The pattern should be deeply embossed.
Take the cutter – gently place it on the clay. Leave about 1-2 cm from the edge of the mold and cut off the clay so it doesn’t interfere with our further work.
Turn over the cutter and the clay. Work with your fingers and shape the clay in the form of a pendant. Then press the clay around the edges of the mold.
This is how it looks from the inside.
Take the rest of the black clay and roll out a layer slightly larger than the size of the mold and put it on top.
Lightly press down on the edge of the mold with your finger. Then gently flip the cutter with the clay.
Press on top of the mold, and cut the clay to the base, right until the tile. Remove the clay scraps.
Carefully remove the cutter from the clay.
Make a hole in the desired location with a metal tube.
Next, we need to prepare gold polymer clay. Roll it out to a thickness of about 1 mm. It should be long enough to wrap around the entire pendant.
Cut a strip about 3-4 mm wide. Before attaching the strip to the pendant, try it on first.
Slowly, slowly attach the strip of gold clay to the pendant. Press the strip down so that the clay sticks together.
Next, we will cover our ornament with metallic powder. We should do everything carefully. Put the powder on your finger and apply it to the convex parts of the ornament. The powder applies to the clay very easily.
If your clay is too soft and you’re afraid to squeeze it – put the polymer clay pendant for half an hour in the freezer, the clay will harden a bit.
Baking polymer clay in the oven.
The temperature and baking time is specified on the package of your polymer clay. I baked the pendant at 130 degrees for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to the desired temperature, and then put the product in the oven.
After baking, take the pendant out of the oven and let it cool.
Be sure to coat the pendant with colorless polymer clay varnish. Dry it well. If necessary, varnish again.
Attach the suede cord to the pendant (use costume jewelry fittings). The polymer clay pendant is done! It can be worn, given as a gift or sold!
