Viking Knit. Necklaces and bracelets made of wire. Wire Wrap tutorial.
Today we will weave the Viking necklace.
From this lesson you will learn how to weave a Viking chain from the wire. We will use a special aluminum wire 1 mm thick.
For a Viking bracelet, of course, much less wire is needed.
We take a piece of wire about 150-170 cm in length. We make five turns around the ruler or something suitable in size. Then we tighten the wire from the ruler and the tip is wrapped like in the photo.
We make the loops in different directions at approximately the same distance – we make a “flower” with 5 petals.
Next, for work, we need a tube or rod with a smooth surface of 18 mm in diameter.
Next, as shown in the photo, we fix our “flower” with the help of a rubber band. Loops are evenly distributed around the circle.
As shown in the photo, make the eyelets from the left to the right in a circle.
Pay attention on how to make loops when you pass the entire circle.
Then make loops moving in a circle.
When you run out of wire. Take the next piece and attach it to the tip. Shorten (bite off the wire) twisting up to about 1 – 2 cm. And continue to weave as before. The twist will then hidden and it will not be visible.
I use a wooden plank 1 – 2 cm thick with holes of 10-9-8-7 mm. Consistently stretch through the holes from the larger to the smaller. I last stretched through a hole 8 mm. You can still reduce the chain to 7 mm.
We need to attach pretty tips. We will need ready pins or pieces of wire with a thickness of approximately 1 mm. We make loops and we grasp directly behind the braid. Tightly clamped.
We pass the tip, make a ring for the chain.
At the other end of the chain, we also attach the end-piece.
A tube or rod with a smooth surface of 18 mm in diameter – we make a “flower” with 8 petals.
A tube or rod with a smooth surface of 18 mm in diameter – we make a “flower” with 6 petals.
A tube or rod with a smooth surface of 10 mm in diameter – we make a “flower” with 6 petals.
I won’t tell you anything about this bracelet – guess for yourself.
