What kind of wire is suitable for weaving a stone.
So, this is the beginning of our Wire weave pendant tutorial – get ready and let’s go. Take any wire you have. I used copper wire for this jewelry piece. Use 1mm thick wire for the base and 0.4mm thick wire for the weaving.
Copper is a popular choice for jewelry making for many reasons. It has beautiful color and has many possibilities for forging, twisting, smelting, patination and polishing. It is easy to work with and relatively inexpensive to buy. Copper is often recommended as a great material for beginners who would like to practice with wire to create jewelry with stones. It will give you great practice before you move on to the more expensive sterling silver option.
I really love copper wire and often make jewelry with it. I use copper wire in almost all of my tutorials.
What stone is suitable for making a pendant.
It is desirable to use natural stones of volcanic origin. You probably will find this life hack in almost every Wire weave pendant tutorial that was written by me. In order to learn how to bend weavings beautifully, take a larger stone. The stone will serve as a support for you while you bend the weavings.
I purposely took a large flat shapeless stone with a hole in it. Don’t strive for a perfect design for the entire piece of jewelry. Learn to create beautiful spirals of weavings on this stone.
Usually, I bend the weavings by hand but sometimes I use pliers with silicone tips (Nylon Jaw Pliers).

We need four pieces of 1 mm thick copper wire about 50 cm each. For the weaving, we will use 0.4 mm thick soft copper wire.
Insert one wire into the hole in the stone. Approximately in the middle, start weaving three wires together in any weaving technique.
Discover basic weaves to use with one, two, three, and four… wire frames.
Watch and learn my free basic tutorial! Once you know how to make basic weaves, you can do a lot with wire. It’s very easy when you know how. And now let’s get back to the Wire weave pendant tutorial.
Weave together all the wires as shown in the photo.
Bend the weaving around the stone.
Set the stone on the wire, bend it and weave all the wires together.
We’ve secured the stone. Now the most interesting part begins. Create weavings to your liking (from two, from three or from four wires), twist them as you want (try to do it nicely). It’s easy to bend the weavings on the flat side of the stone. If you have some problems – just practice more! Let’s move to the next part of our Wire weave pendant tutorial.
Hide the ends of the wires behind the weavings on the back of the pendant.
Attach (sew) the ends to the weavings.
Don’t forget to make a loop on the pendant for a cord or necklace.
Just look at how many patterns I’ve made. Of course, it’s too much and they may have been a little bit prettier. But while I was making all this, I was practising my weaving skills on the pendant. Thus, practice as much as possible and you will succeed.
I patinated the wire in ammonia vapor and then polished the copper.
I apologize for the fact that the video tutorial does not include the process of bending the spirals made of weavings. I got so caught up in bending the weavings that I forgot to turn on the video camera at that point. Sorry! This is the end of today’s Wire weave pendant tutorial – hope you enjoyed it, see you next time.
