Wire wrap heart pendant tutorial. How do you make a beaded wire heart? Free Wire Wrapped Heart Pendant tutorial for beginners.
We have already made Heart pendants together with you. You can see the previous “Wire wrapped heart pendant tutorial” on this blog
The previous pendants are easier to make. So, you can start making pendants from the previous tutorial and then move on to this tutorial.
Today I present a new free wire wrapped heart pendant tutorial for beginners.
What do we need to make a heart-shaped pendant?
Wire.
We will use copper wire with a thickness of 1 mm and 0.4 mm. I like to patinate and polish the wire, so I use natural copper.
You can also use any other natural wire of a suitable diameter.
Tools for making the pendant Heart.
We will need a small set of hand tools.
To make the balls on the end of the copper wire, we need a blowtorch with a combustion temperature of at least 1300 degrees Celsius. Otherwise, the copper will not melt.
Balls can only be made of natural metal wire.
In order to clean the carbon deposits from the wire and smooth the balls we need a grinding tool.
If you are going to patinate the jewelry, you will need special patination solutions. Ammonia is sold in our drugstores and I use it for patination. I just pour the ammonia into a jar and hang the jewelry over the solution. The wire is patinated in the ammonia vapor. This is the main secret of my wire wrap heart pendant tutorial.
You can use the beads as you like. I took copper beads and one of stone. You may not use them. The Heart pendant also looks good without the beads.

We need two pieces of copper wire (about 30-50 cm each). The length depends on the size of your Heart pendant. Draw the heart on the paper beforehand. On my sketch one cell is equal to 5 mm. So the pendant itself is about 40X40 mm.
As you understand yourself, you should have a lot of thin wire to make a 0.4 mm weaving.
Bend the wire in the middle as shown in the photo below.
Then use any method of weaving and start weaving them together. Bend the weaving and make the shape of the heart as you drew on your sketch.
First, weave one side, then the other.
You should have something like this (see photo below).
Check our sketch on the paper and bend the wire.
The second pair of wires should also be bent. For ease of work, put the wire on the front side of the pendant.
It should look like this.
Next, bend the wire nicely. You can draw the sketch on paper in advance and bend according to it.
Cut off the excess wire.
Bend the weaving to the side. We need to make balls on the ends of the wire. Hold the pendant with pliers or tweezers. The wire should be vertical when you bring it to the fire. Balls are a unique element of my Wire wrap heart pendant tutorial – this is my signature.
Bring the tip of the wire to the tip of the burner flame. After a while, the tip of the wire will become a ball. The size of the ball can be adjusted.
The balls will not be perfect. They will have scratches and bumps on them.
To smooth the balls and remove the carbon deposits from the wire, you need to sand everything down.
You can curl the wire a little bit. Next, finish weaving and fasten it to the main weaving. After annealing, the wire will be softer and easier to work with.
Then we do the same (symmetrically) on the other side of the pendant. Try it on, bend it, cut off the excess. We make balls on the ends of the wire, don’t forget to grind, bend them in beautiful patterns.
At this point, you could have stopped. That is okay. This is essentially a finished Heart pendant. But such a simple Wire wrap heart pendant tutorial is not enough for me.
I didn’t like it, so I decided to add one more element.
I took a piece of wire, made a ball at one end and sanded it down. I tried beads on the wire. One is made of stone, the rest are made of copper. I added these elements to the pendant.
I fastened beads to the pendant. Just bent a thick wire on one side (without the ball). On the other side I used a thin wire to fasten it.
It’s time to patinate the pendant using whatever method is available to you. The easiest way is to buy ready-made patination solutions. Be sure to read the instructions.
Let’s polish the jewelry. I use a grinder with special felt tips. I also use polishing pastes.
Let’s add a ring of wire. We will thread the chain with a lock through it.
Copper will darken over time. To prevent this from happening, the whole piece can be coated with a colorless varnish.
That is all. Pendant Heart is ready. It can be worn, given as a gift or sold.
Good luck with your creative works!
