Wire wrapping jewelry
Usually, in my master classes, I show how to weave wire jewelry without using soldering. For the past few years, this was my main technique in which I make jewelry with stones. Before that, though, I had been making jewelry in the classic technique with the use of soldering for quite some time.
Today I will show you how to make a wire pendant with your own hands using two techniques. And yes, we will use soldering in this master class!
What materials will be needed?
Today I will be using nickel silver wire to create a pendant with a stone.
What materials will we use for the work? They don’t really differ from what we use in other Wire wrapping jewelry tutorials.
1.5 mm thick nickel silver wire; 1 mm thick; 0.4 mm thick.
Nickel silver plate – we will use it to make a holder for fixing the stone.
Cabochon of natural stone “Falcon Eye” 25×18 mm.
Tools for work.
We will need all the tools for soldering metals: torch burner, fluxes, solder, and so on. You will need a small set of hand tools to work with the wire.

This is the kind of pendant we will make with you today out of nickel silver and stone.
First, according to all the rules of jewelry making, we need to cut a strip of metal plate and make a cabochon holder from it.
For the backing, I used 1.5 mm thick nickel silver wire. I flattened it, bent it into an oval and soldered it. I soldered the cabochon holder on top.
I have not yet clamped the cabochon.
Next, we will work with the wire. Fold 1mm thick wire as shown in the photo below.
Start weaving the four wires in any way you like. At the very beginning of the weaving, fasten (sew) the weaving to the base. Weave and gently bend the weaving around the cabochon.
When you get to the bottom, sew (fasten) the weaving to the bottom as well. Continue weaving.
When you go back up, don’t forget to sew (fasten) the weaving to the base again.
You can come up with your own weaving pattern, repeat my designs from previous Wire wrapping jewelry tutorials or just repeat my today’s design.
I made balls on the ends of the wire with a torch burner. When using nickel silver wire, the beads usually turn out not very perfect, so you have to sand them a lot. You can use borax to make the balls have fewer cavities. Just dip the end of the wire in the borax before you start melting.
While working, don’t forget to clamp the cabochon into the holder.
I patinated the nickel silver with a special solution, which I bought in an online store.
I polished it with an electric sander. I used special felt tips. And I also used polishing paste.
I made the necklace out of memory wire and black silicone tubing. As in many Wire wrapping jewelry tutorials, I also used fittings but today they were silver colored.
Today I told you how to make wire jewelry using different techniques. I apologize for not giving you a detailed master class. To be honest, it wast’t the main task. I wanted to show you how to make jewelry with any wire, using any technique. Thus creating beautiful original jewelry.
