I suggest using silicone-tipped pliers for wire weaving.

Flat nose pliers with plastic/nylon jaws

I used a thin natural jasper cabochon and copper wire. I use 1 mm (18 ga) thick wire for the basis and 0.4 mm (26 ga) thick wire for weaving.
You can also use 0.8 mm (20 ga) wire for the basis and 0.3 mm (28 ga) wire for weaving.

To make a wire wrapping pendant, we need four pieces of natural (without varnish on the surface) copper wire. It should be 1 mm thick and about 50-60 cm long. We will weave it with 0.4 mm copper wire.

We can weave the wire using any technique. If you want to make a weaving as in the photo, I have shown it in the video below.

We should attach the tips of the wires to the weaving on the backside. But you should cut off the excess and bend it.

Next, we need to form an eyelet for a cord or chain.

Let’s divide the wire into pairs and weave it in any way. Or you can use the technique that I have shown in the photo.

We should also bend the tips and attach them to the weaving.

Try a cabochon on. Two pairs of wires are placed at the backside. Thus they will prevent the cabochon from shifting. On the sides, the weaving prevents the cabochon from shifting. Next, we should attach the cabochon on the top.

Let’s make an additional element with 0.8mm and 0.3mm wire! We should take two pieces of copper wire. They should be 50 cm long and 0.8 mm thick. Start weaving it in the middle. We should bend it in half and attach it to the weaving of the pendant.

The first pair will be placed along the edge of the cabochon. Attach the weaving in several places.

Place the second pair as it is shown in the photo.

As a result, you will get something like that! The cabochon is securely and beautifully fixed.

We should also hide the tips of the wire behind the weaving.

Conclusion.

Next part of the work is not essential. It would be nice to patinate copper wire. You can use ammonia vapours or special solutions. I have described this process many times in my previous articles. It also would be nice to polish the wire using polishing paste or polishing wax. If necessary, cover it with a special varnish.
