Polymer clay necklace ideas. How to make polymer clay jewelry. Polymer clay bead necklace step by step tutorial for beginners.
Polymer clay can successfully imitate a variety of materials, and it can be used to make jewelry imitating wood, metal, fabrics and much, much more. Today we will make a necklace of polymer clay, imitating chocolate. Candies made of clay beads are so realistic, that you may even want to eat them. Of course, we are not going to do that, but it is quite possible to try them on with a new outfit. By the way, I will make more Polymer clay necklace ideas in the future. So, let’s start making a necklace from baked polymer clay which is called “Chocolate Variety”.

Blanks for beads made of polymer clay
First, we need to make blanks for the beads from polymer clay of any color. You can use leftover clay of different colors. I made beads of different sizes. But if you want, you can make all the beads the same size. Roll the beads between the palms of your hands. It is not necessary to use rubber gloves. Don’t be afraid to leave fingerprints on the beads. This is the main peculiarity of my Polymer clay necklace tutorials.
Next, we need an extruder for our work.
Take the extruder and squeeze out “sausages” of different shapes – depending on the shape of the hole in the nozzle.
The extruder can be used to produce blanks for many different techniques, such as “filigree” or “kaleidoscope”. But there is a “classic” extruder technique where you can get a great result: by using square or round nozzles and clay of different color that beautifully “flow” into each other, you can get a very beautiful pattern.
Before placing the brown clay inside the extruder, you need to knead it well. The clay must be soft. We are going to squeeze out round “sausages” – let’s call them like this. To do this, choose an appropriate nozzle.
It is best to work with a screw extruder. This extruder makes it easy to make sausages.
Polymer clay beads for necklaces.
Use a toothpick to make a hole in the bead.
Take the sausage and begin to wrap it around the bead. Lightly press the sausage down so that it sticks to the bead.
Wrap the entire bead.
Cut off the excess sausage. The bead is now ready to be baked in the oven. Wrap all the beads with brown sausages as we did a moment ago.
Pendant made of polymer clay.
You don’t have to make a pendant at all for this necklace. I have an unused pendant that is left from my work with Foils (gold leaf). It would go well with this necklace.
Baking polymer clay.
Preheat the oven to the desired temperature. The temperature and baking time are written on the package of the clay. Place the clay pieces in the oven and set the timer for the desired time.
Take the pieces out of the oven after baking. Wait until the clay has cooled completely and coat the beads with colorless polymer clay varnish.
The varnish should dry well before we continue to work with the jewelry. Next, let’s make a Polymer clay necklace.
How to make polymer clay bead necklace.
In order to make the necklace we need to take the memory wire.
Use a large tool to cut and bend the memory wire. Memory wire is very stiff.
String ordinary clay beads and beads imitating metal on the wire – the metal ones will divide the ordinary beads and will make your jewelry look unique. Don’t forget about the pendant (if you have one).
Bend the wire and make a loop at the end of the wire.
Move all the beads to the beginning (to the loop). Cut off the wire on the other side, leaving about 2 cm.
Bend the wire and make one more loop.
Attach the lock with the connecting rings. If you suddenly need to increase the size of the necklace – add small pieces of chain at both ends.
Necklace with chocolate beads from polymer clay is ready! I hope you love the Polymer clay necklace that we made today!
