Bracelets made of leather and wire.
We already made a simple leather bracelet together with you. We learned how to set snaps on the leather by hand at home.
Then, we made a simple wire and leather bracelet with our own hands.
Next, we made the task more difficult and made a bracelet out of copper wire, leather and beads.
We, together with you, will continue to work with leather and wire. Today we are going to make a bracelet out of leather, nickel silver wire and some natural stone beads. We are going to make a new clasp on the bracelet itself, and we will also use costume jewelry accessories. So, as you may have already guessed, this out today’s Wire wrapped bracelet tutorial.
What tools will be needed for the work.
We will need a small set of hand tools. Read the detailed description of the Wire Wrap Tools.
You will need an awl to make holes in the leather.
If you are going to patinate (to make it look antique) the wire, you will need a blackening fluid. For polishing, you will need a sander with special felt tips and polishing pastes.
In order to make balls on the tips of the wire, we will need a gas torch with a gas cylinder.
You will also need sanding paper to sand the wire.
Accessories and materials to make a bracelet.
In today’s Wire wrapped bracelet tutorial we will need a ready-made leather bracelet blank. The blank can be made from a strip of leather (that’s what I did) or you can cut it from a piece of leather yourself. My blank is 20 mm wide.
Accessories for costume jewelry: clips – end caps of the appropriate size, carabiner clasp – lobster, a piece of chain, a few connecting rings. All accessories can be purchased in online stores.
Natural 1mm and 0.4mm thick nickel silver wire – Neusilber. You can use any other wire of appropriate thickness. Preferably, the accessories and wire should be the same color.
We will need three beads of natural stone.

Measure and cut a strip of leather of the desired length. Fasten the end caps on both sides of the workpiece.
Use pliers for this task.
Fasten chains and the clasp with the help of connecting rings.
The leather workpiece is done. Next, let’s work with the wire. This is the second part of today’s Wire wrapped bracelet tutorial.
We need two pieces of 1mm thick nickel silver wire about 50 cm long. At all ends of the wire, we need to make balls with a gas torch.
Treat the balls with sandpaper. Approximately in the middle, begin to weave the wires using any weaving technique.
Next, use a thin wire to secure the bead.
Wrap the weaving around the bead. Slip the thin wire through the hole in the bead, then slip the thin wire through the weaving back into the hole in the bead.
And continue weaving the two wires. Wrap the bead with the weaving one more time.
You can create any wire jewelry design you want or just repeat after me. In the same way, we should weave another bead. I took a smaller size natural stone bead.
Do the same to the other side. If you run out of thin wire (like I did) do not cut an end of the wire. These ends will be useful for attaching to leather. Do not cut ends of the thin wire around the edges as well.
Do not forget to try the wire workpiece on the bracelet.
My pattern wasn’t exactly symmetrical, but that’s okay.
Let’s move to the next stage of today’s Wire wrapped bracelet tutorial. If you have decided to patinate and polish the wire, now is the time to do it. You can do it right on a leather bracelet, but thus you may damage the leather.
I used a special universal blackening fluid. Ammonia is not good for patinating nickel silver. After blackening I polished the wire.
Place the wire piece on the leather bracelet and make a hole in the leather with an awl.
Slip the wire through the hole. On the back side, make a second hole and slip the wire through it – then tighten the wire.
On the front side, wrap the thin wire around the thick one.
Cut the thin wire.
Sew the wire workpiece to the leather bracelet in all the required places.
Bracelet made of nickel silver wire and leather with natural stone beads is done! And this is the end of today’s Wire wrapped bracelet tutorial – hope you enjoyed it.
